Quilting is a journey that began over two decades ago with the guidance of my creative aunt. Her skillful hands and patient teachings ignited a passion that has carried its way through my life ever since.
During my tenure as a school librarian, I pioneered an after-school program that brought together students and their families to learn the art of sewing and quilting. The sense of community cultivated by these sessions was truly heartwarming.
Joining the national initiative, Welcome Blanket, was a natural extension of my desire to create a sense of belonging through quilts made for recent immigrants. Leading a local group in this endeavor has been deeply fulfilling, bridging cultures and spreading comfort to our new neighbors.
As a member of the Seacoast Quilt Guild in Marblehead, I am continually inspired by the creativity and kinship that each monthly gathering creates. Together, we share techniques, stories, and a love of quilting that enriches my craft and friendships alike. We have just launched an exhibit of Picture Book Quilts at the Abbot Library, blending my love for literature and quilting into a compelling display.
